At some point in our life, we’ve all been that orange-haired guy, whether it’s right now or sometime in the past. But, your past doesn’t have to determine your future, if you make the decision to change. It will not happen overnight, remember there’s 20, 30, 40+ years (how ever old you may be) of average thinking and habits working against you. It’s a process.
But, it all starts with accepting responsibility. If you refuse to accept where you are right now is direct result of your past choices, you will never truly believe you can effect your future. Next, you will need the desire to change. Believe it or not, some people LOVE being average, period. To each his own, but for those of us who want more out of life, until our conviction is greater than our need for convenience, the desire to change will never come. “I’ll start next week” or “When the time is right” are never responses from someone who has a true desire to change. Lastly, there is commitment. Without it, you will just keep starting over and over and over again. Escaping from average is simple, but not always easy. Accepting responsibility, a desire to change, and commitment make all the difference.
Cheers to the dream chasers!
